Binh Dinh installed 191 satellite-positioning machines on offshore fishing boats
(vasep.com.vn) Through October 1st, 2013, Binh Dinh Sub-department of Capture Fisheries and Resources Protection worked with Quy Nhon Monitoring Station to install 191 satellite positioning machines (movimar) on local offshore fishing boats.
The Movimar project runs from 2011 to 2013 with total investment of EUR13.9 million funded by French government’s official development assistances (ODA). Its objective is to equip satellite-positioning machines on fishing boats from all coastal provinces in Vietnam.
The movimar satellite technology for cost of VND40 million per unit will help authorized agencies to manage information on fishing boats activities; allow fishermen to receive newly updated weather forecasts, and captains to position fish ground to save fuel.
To the end of 2013, Binh Dinh Sub-department of Capture Fisheries and Resources Protection plans to assist fishermen in installing more 114 movimar machines.
