Quang Tri promotes organic golden pompano farming

Viet GAP 10:23 20/02/2026
(seafood.vasep.com.vn) As part of its agricultural restructuring strategy toward sustainability, Quang Tri Province is gradually promoting environmentally friendly aquaculture models. Among these, organic-oriented golden pompano farming is considered a promising direction, aligned with the goals of enhancing production value and building sustainable rural areas.

In recent years, Quang Tri has identified organic agriculture as an inevitable trend to protect the ecological environment, improve resource efficiency, and increase rural incomes. In the aquaculture sector, although no farms have yet obtained official organic certification, many producers have proactively applied safe production practices. These include minimizing the use of antibiotics and chemicals, prioritizing biological products, natural feed, and implementing sustainable environmental management measures.

In practice, organic-oriented aquaculture models in the province have delivered positive results, particularly amid rising disease risks and environmental pollution. Based on this foundation, the province has implemented a pilot intensive golden pompano farming model in line with VietGAP standards, combined with production and market linkages. The model focuses on strict control of fingerlings, feed, farming protocols, and environmental conditions, creating a foundation for transitioning to certified organic farming in the future.

According to the local agricultural sector, the development of organic-oriented golden pompano farming not only helps diversify farmed species and reduce pressure on traditional species but also enhances the added value of aquaculture products. In the coming period, Quang Tri will continue to support technology transfer, strengthen value chain linkages, and gradually establish organic-oriented aquaculture zones, aiming for long-term stability and sustainable development.
