In his opening remarks, Vietnamese Ambassador to Brazil Bui Van Nghi noted that Vietnam-Brazil relations have continued to develop positively across various fields, particularly in trade and investment. Brazil is currently Vietnam’s largest trading partner in Latin America, while Vietnam is increasingly establishing itself as one of Brazil’s key partners in Southeast Asia.
The Ambassador emphasized that the two economies are highly complementary. However, the current scale of cooperation remains below its full potential and should be further enhanced through stronger business connectivity, expanded investment, and the establishment of more favorable trade cooperation mechanisms.
During the event, representatives from trade offices, businesses, and industry associations shared updates on economic and trade developments, the investment environment, cooperation opportunities, and important considerations for Vietnamese companies seeking to enter the Brazilian market. Many participants agreed that there remains substantial room for cooperation, particularly in agriculture, food, seafood, and processing industries.
Representing the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), Ms. Tô Thị Tường Lan, Vice Secretary General of the Association, presented an overview of Vietnam’s seafood production, processing and export capabilities, as well as the industry's quality management systems, standards, and sustainable development orientation.
According to VASEP, Vietnam currently possesses a modern aquaculture and seafood processing industry, stable supply capacity, and a network of enterprises capable of meeting increasingly stringent international requirements on food safety, traceability, and sustainability. These advantages have enabled Vietnamese seafood products to maintain their competitiveness in numerous markets around the world.
The seminar concluded successfully and marked another practical economic diplomacy initiative by the Embassy of Vietnam in Brazil in 2026. The event aimed to enhance market understanding, strengthen trust between businesses and localities of both countries, and promote more substantive, effective, balanced, and sustainable cooperation in the years ahead. It also contributed to the effective implementation of the Vietnam-Brazil Strategic Partnership and the Bilateral Action Plan for 2025–2030.
